The Nurmijärvi unit

The Nurmijärvi Unit is situated about 50 kilometres from Helsinki to the north. There is a regular bus connection to the Institute from the Helsinki Central Bus station. The Nurmijärvi unit is situated at a peaceful and beautiful place by Lake Sääksjärvi. The closest communal centres are Röykkä ( 4 km), Rajamäki (6 km) and Klaukkala (18 km).

The profile of the Nurmijärvi Unit emphasises the following areas:

Facilities

The accommodation capacity of Nurmijärvi unit is 240 beds in double rooms. The institute is a modern training centre with meeting rooms and classrooms for groups of various sizes, several up-to-date computer rooms, large auditorium with modern data projectors, video conference technology, library, radio and video studios and photography laboratory.

Leisure Activities

The surroundings of Nurmijärvi unit provide a pleasant environment for outdoor sports like cross-country skiing, rowing and fishing. The sports facilities of the institute include a tennis court, a large sports hall, a fitness centre and a swimming pool. There are saunas both inside the institute and outside by the lake with barbeque facilities. The cultural and recreational services of Helsinki can be reached within less than one hour by local bus.
